We are hiring a full-time Android Wi-Fi and AOSP Engineer (Google Cast Focus) in the Bay Area, CA, to take the lead in shaping wireless casting experiences through deep technical work in Android’s Wi-Fi stack and AOSP framework.
This opportunity is ideal for an individual with strong AOSP development skills, a solid understanding of Wi-Fi protocols and hands-on experience optimizing Google Cast or similar streaming technologies.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- AOSP Wi-Fi Stack Development and Optimization: You will dive deep into Android Open Source Project’s Wi-Fi framework, particularly above the driver level, to ensure optimal connectivity performance.
- Google Cast Integration and Debugging: We require an expert capable of seamlessly integrating, debugging and enhancing Google Cast functionalities, ensuring flawless casting experiences across Android devices.
- Wi-Fi Middleware and Network Stability: Your core mission is to maintain Wi-Fi connection integrity for casting by managing and troubleshooting the middleware components responsible for network behavior.
- Network Debugging and Optimization: Utilize your skill in analyzing and debugging Wi-Fi performance issues. Apply QoS strategies, buffer tuning and bandwidth optimization for smooth media streaming.
- Wi-Fi Supplicant and Security Expertise: Diagnose and fix problems tied to authentication, encryption and connection reliability by leveraging your in-depth understanding of WPA2, WPA3 and supplicant behavior.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
- 10+ years of experience in Android development with a focus on Wi-Fi stack and middleware.
- Demonstrated proficiency working in AOSP, especially in the Wi-Fi module.
- Strong background in debugging Wi-Fi stack and middleware.
- Experience with Android Networking APIs.
- Troubleshooting experience in Wi-Fi supplicant operations.
- Command over Wi-Fi security protocols including WPA2, WPA3.
- Familiarity with Wireshark and other network analysis tools.
- C++, Java, or Kotlin expertise.
- Experience with Google Cast, AirPlay, Miracast, WiDi, or DLNA is a plus.
